Its roots lie in the medicine system of Ayurveda, which aims to promote health, beauty and a long life. Depending on the techniques used, it can relax or invigorate. This unit will teach you how to select the most suitable medium for your client to improve scalp or hair condition, and how to adapt your treatment according to your client. You will learn what is meant by the chakras, as well as how the body systems work.
Within this course you will learn how to maintain effective health, safety and hygiene, consult with your client and be able to prepare yourself and client, gain knowledge practical skills for Indian head, massage, use of mediums, chakras, how to recognise contra-indications and how to follow safe working methods. Carry out necessary tests prior to the treatment, provide clear recommendations to the clients, select products, tools and equipment. Use different consultation techniques to identify client treatment needs, identify contra-indications/contra-actions, advice on aftercare and home care.
You will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the hair and beauty industries and develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills to a high occupational level.
You will also need to maintain your personal appearance and good communication with the client. This accredited course is in compliance to the Hair and Beauty National Occupational Standards and is accredited by ABT (Association of Beauty Therapists) for membership and insurance purposes
