Supporting Clients with Cancer

The Centre is delighted to bring you training on Supporting Clients with Cancer. This is open to anyone who is working in a clinic, salon or spa, or as a therapist, and who wants to make sure that they can work with clients who have received a diagnosis of cancer. Bliss Russell, the trainer, has written a comprehensive leaflet for us, telling us of what the course entails and who it is meant for.
Global Heart Healing and Bodywork: Supporting Clients with Cancer
Accredited Training for Holistic & Beauty Therapists, Clinic or Spa Staff
Presented by Bliss Russell
BSc(Hons) IIHHT FFHT IPTI IPHM
Have you turned clients away from your practice, clinic or salon because you are unsure about how to safely approach and support a person with cancer? Would you like to discover more about this condition, how to support someone using holistic or beauty therapies? Do you work in reception at a clinic or spa and want to sensitively and professionally book clients in for your service? This course offers a comprehensive overview of the disease and its treatment, safety and adaptations to treatment.
Bliss has specialised in holistic support oncology care for the past two decades, working in several leading hospices and cancer hospitals, and devoting her academic study to the subject. She has taught around the UK in FE colleges and private settings, as well as providing in house training in spa and salon settings for practitioners to safely work with cancer sufferers. Bliss is currently undertaking a Research Masters at the University of Bristol where her focus is on Women’s Bodies, Cancer and Touch. She recently took part in an international Wellness for Cancer Symposium with leading experts in oncology in the research, spa and education sectors.
She devised this training course to fill in the gaps in some of the current courses offered on the subject, and aims to engage her students in a fun, interactive practice focused course which will give you answers, offer lots of adaptations and safe alternatives to the most popular therapies, and give you confidence to book and treat people with cancer as a normal part of your everyday practice.
This course is open for the full three days training to practitioners with existing qualifications in holistic therapies, massage, reflexology, reiki or beauty and spa therapies, and open to reception staff, clinic managers or front of house for the first day of the course.
The full training over 3 days is being offered at the Amethyst Centre, Coventry between 1st to 3rd June 2018, at a cost of £300 which covers all course materials and accredited IPHM course certification. A special discounted rate of £250 is available to students or those in receipt of state benefits. For front of house staff or those unable to attend the full training the first day is offered £90. Each day of the course offers 7 hours of CPD credits.
