Following the weekend training at the Centre, we are now able to say that The Amethyst Centre is a “Cancer Aware” Centre!
The Amethyst Centre became the first Centre in the UK to become accredited with the “Supporting Clients with Cancer” qualification. This qualification has been developed by Elizabeth Russell of Global Heart Healing and Bodywork, who became a BCHC Qualified therapist in Supporting People with Cancer in 2004 and has two decades of practice and extensive experience working with people with cancer. It is accredited with the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM), and was delivered last weekend at the Amethyst Centre on Ball Hill, Coventry.
“I am so pleased to achieve this accreditation,” said Chris. “It means that any of our clients who have had a cancer diagnosis can now have a holistic therapy at the Centre, safe in the knowledge that they are dealing with properly trained professional therapists and staff.” The Centre is now entitled to use the “Cancer Aware” label on its promotional materials.
Comprehensive Cancer Support at the Centre
For the past few months, Juliette from the Hummingbird Centre in Coventry has been providing free counselling for anyone affected by a diagnosis of cancer within the Amethyst Centre. The physical therapists from the Centre who have attended the “Supporting Clients with Cancer” course offer the following complementary therapies:
Reiki, aromatherapy, crystal healing, reflexology, Swedish massage, Indian head massage, ear candling, and holistic facials.
“I am very pleased that my clients can now have the security of knowing that I have studied and trained in this care,” said Victoria Brown, Complementary Therapist.
Why did we do it?
Providing therapies by properly trained and experienced therapists for cancer patients has been a request through customer feedback to the Amethyst Centre, and organising this displays our commitment to improve the variety of services to its customers. “If you are interested in taking advantage of our therapies but have been put off because of your cancer diagnosis, then please get in touch and we will be happy to speak to you and put your mind at rest” said Christine. “Regardless of what stage of cancer, whether you have a port or a stoma, a visible scar, or if you’re on chemotherapy or radiotherapy, there is always a treatment you can have from Victoria or myself.”
“We have also founded Therapy Angels CIC to provide therapies for those who can’t afford to pay full price for them, and in future it may be possible to subsidise treatments for clients with cancer” said Victoria.
If you are interested in receiving a treatment at the Centre, and would like to talk to Chris about it, please get in touch with us.
